Tasting Notes:

Ironstone's Obsession has youthful aromas that are markedly floral. Extremely drinkable, this lusciously brilliant and fanciful wine is full of fruit flavours, and finishes crisp and clean.

Food Pairings:

It's great with spicy dishes, like Asian and Cajun foods, or simply sipped on a deck.

Reviews:

**** (out of 5): "You know Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc and Riesling and Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc and Grüner Veltliner, but do you recall the most pleasantly fragrant grape of all? The answer we're looking for is Symphony, a cross between Muscat of Alexandria and Grenache Gris developed in 1948 at UC Davis in California. It's a little known varietal that has become virtually synonymous with Ironstone Vineyards, which has emerged as the eighth-largest family-owned and operated winery in California. The grapes were sourced from Kautz family vineyards in Lodi and Murphys, and old mining town in the Sierra Foothills region that is home to the winery. The result is a wine tailor-made to be sniffed and slurped. I have never tasted a dull bottle. A gorgeous, seamless, floral and refreshing wine, the 2004 Obsession is a dream brunch or picnic wine." ****½ (out of 5): "Considering the almost cult wine status this has earned, it is a 'must try' white for those who haven't. Lychees, rosewater and Turkish delight aromatics form the glorious and generous nose. The mélange of tropical fruit flavours are delicately balanced with a zesty citrus tang and cleansing sweet/sour finish that begs for green curry chicken with peas and rice. Would make the perfect welcoming aperitif, as well." (Vic Harradine — WineCurrent.com — October 2005)

90: "What a beautiful wine! Springy, refreshing floral aromas with lovely citrus acidity. The Symphony grape is a cross between muscat and grenache gris. This wine also comes in the convenient half bottle size. Ideal for shellfish, seafood, lightly spiced dishes and as an aperitif." (Natalie Maclean — Nat Decants — May 2005)

**** (out of 5): "This aromatic charmer is tailor-made for days when the sun is high in the sky. An ideal wine to sip and savour, Ironstone's Obsession features a pretty nose suggesting orange blossoms, white flowers and what I imagine myrhh to smell like. It's heavenly stuff: refreshingly off-dry and a nice Muscat-like grapey finish. A great match for sushi or tempura dishes." (Christopher Waters — Vines — May/June 2005)
